The First Lego League (Challenge) competition for 10-16 year olds has been held by the University of Iceland since 2005. Registration for the competition opens in May each year and is open for a month. The competition is then on a Saturday early November. The competition takes place at Háskólabíó where over 20 teams coming from all over the country compete. The winner, the Icelandic First Lego League champion, gets an invitation to take part in the First Lego League Scandinavian towards the end of November.
